Mechanical fragments surfaced from beneath the gravel, left behind by the dirt road cut into the mountain. Salvaged and printed onto weathered tar paper, they became a bestiary — machines reimagined as creatures roaming the volcano, recorded the way animals once were on the walls of Lascaux.
